Amatuallah Safwani is the new girl in town. Smart, pretty, and independent, Amatuallah captures the attention of all those around her, and not in a good way. Off the bat, Amatuallah meets Susanna Wilson, a popular and outgoing girl in the neighborhood. Frightened by Amatuallah's religious appearance, Susanna and her best friend Amy Jefferson vow to run her out of town. Along with the rest of their friends, they plot and plan everything imaginable. Little do they know what Amatuallah has in store for them. Told in alternating perspectives of Susanna and Amatuallah, the story prolongs the conflict between the two, and displays the characters' personalities during the tough times. Both characters develop, and the story takes the reader on an emotional ride as Susanna struggles to learn the true meaning of love, friendship, and happiness.
