"Hey, little girl is your daddy home. Did he go away and leave you all alone? I got a bad desire." Dolores is a 22 year old orphan who's been in foster care her entire life. The only thing she has from her mother is a letter and a postcard from Mexico. With the little money she has from waiting tables , she makes a plan to hitchhike to Mexico to reunite with her mother. At 32, Andrés Valdés is a Vietnam veteran who has spent years running from the war and from himself. After a failed marriage, dead-end jobs, and sleepless nights plagued by memories he can't escape, he packs everything he owns into his truck and heads south with no destination in mind. He tells himself he's looking for work, for adventure, for anything, but deep down he's searching for a purpose. After he meets Dolores he decides his purpose is to make sure this girl makes it to Mexico alive.
