Hera Platt is a music prodigy. In a time when such prodigies are sought after for entertainment, her parents try to hide her talent, knowing that she would be taken away if anyone finds out.

When a rich young count and his father pass through Hera's hometown, she makes the mistake of playing a piano that is hidden in another room at a gala. The count's father's assistant hears, and the earl pays for Hera to travel to his family's home to play for them.

Hera hates the young count, but when danger lurks close by, threatening his life, Hera needs to decide where her loyalties lie...
