In college, I "bought" a boyfriend.
As long as he was with me, I would cover his family's medical bills. So, for four years, the proud, broke genius stayed by my side.
Then my family went bankrupt.
When we broke up, he was as cold as ever. He didn't say a single word to make me stay.
Years later, I was serving drinks in a high-end karaoke lounge to pay off debts. He had become a tech mogul, and he was with our old college dream girl.
He asked me, "Do you regret it?"
"No."
"Well, I do," he said.
