A short story

"The Entropy of Self-Importance" is a 950-word short story about a 38-year-old theoretical physicist who returns to his hometown after a long absence to visit his family. He, who at 18 had left for abroad with the almost mystical conviction that he was destined for greatness, the next to unravel the universe's secrets and add his name to the constellation of geniuses, returns to the city without glory or fame, carrying a mix of obligation and weariness. Amidst memories, family, and a bit of chaos, he discovers that there is glory in accepting that, sometimes, the greatest breakthrough is not in the laboratory, but within ourselves.
