Description
Sometimes when you're stuck in a flavorless rut of stringing sentences along, it can feel like writing isn't all that great of an endeavor. It can feel like you're a robot just churning out bland sentence after bland sentence. The muses aren't striking, you think to yourself, I oughta give it a rest. But this can be a falsity that leads you to putting down the pen for longer than you should. You thought you were going to pick up the writing the next day, but it's been a week since you've written anything other than those "I love you" sticky notes on the inside of your lover's lunch pale, and you feel like maybe you're just not cut out for this writing business. I could make a 10 second TikTok where I slap cheese in my kid's face and become viral --- THAT'S where the fame and glory's at. But you know that it is a hollow pursuit. Writing makes you feel like a king. Makes you feel like a creator of worlds. Makes you feel... all right, while at the same time building a talent of which you know you can be proud. So, let's not slap cheese in our kid's faces for the clicks. Let's do a writing exercise. Let's write in the voice of the dependable Joe Pera, and, soon enough, maybe we'll get our groove back. Let's keep it PG, too, something we forget to do when we're just typing away. Oh... Okay... maybe PG-13.
