How I Finally Figured Out My Dissertation Proposal (After Weeks of Struggling)

I thought writing my proposal would be the easy part.
Just outline the idea, get it approved, and move on to the actual dissertation, right?
But I spent two full weeks stuck on the intro alone. I didn't know how detailed it needed to be, how to explain my research objectives, or how to make it sound "academic" without going overboard.
