Prologue

In 1988, the story follows Evan Sterling, a quiet and introspective high school junior, and a troubled classmate, a popular, emotionally guarded senior. Their relationship is a volatile mix of affection, conflict, and unspoken feelings, shaped by societal expectations and personal fears. As Michael struggles with his identity and suppresses his emotions, Evan remains true to himself, even when faced with Michael's cruelty and internalized Homophobia. The tension between them grows as they push each other away while secretly longing for connection, all against the backdrop of a world that isn't ready for them.
