Ciro Bianchi was never supposed to be a hero. Born into a family of addicts and hustlers in the Bronx, his life was a cycle of smoke, music, and survival - until gunshots on Christmas Eve threw him headfirst into a world that didn't even exist.

Now, he's face-to-face with Five Hargreeves - the boy who time-traveled straight into the apocalypse and didn't expect to find anyone else alive, much less someone like Ciro.

Five is quiet and calculating, while Ciro is loud and impulsive - but together, they'll have to navigate an empty world, torn from time and haunted by the echoes of who they used to be.
