After recovering the Master Emerald, Knuckles struggles to adjust to his new life on Earth. Until he learns that he must now train an apprentice. He, along with Eva, embark on a journey with Knuckles's new apprentice Wade Whipple to Reno, Nevada to help Wade win a bowling tournament. Along the way, they learn more about each other, meet Wade's family, and get chased by G.U.N agents who seek their powers.
