All of her lives are useless to Eftelis.

They serve her no purpose other than doing her job as a low-ranked deity-living out human lives in order to take down a force that has battled Eirini and every other deity for decades; centuries, even. But, these lives have to mean more than nothing, right?

But those are just hopes. Just dreams. Just unspoken words behind her stitched mouth.

"Aren't you happy with your life?" My mother whispered in the dark room as she brought the glinting blade to her neck.

"No," I would say back. "Because it'll all mean nothing in a second, and you won't be there. No one I have known will."

Just another life to live, another facade to put on in the ocean of faces she drowns in, in these white times.
