Zikora Zimuzo is born into a family fractured by poverty and his mother, a resilient woman burdened by five children from different fathers, has always fought to keep them afloat. But it is Zikora's eldest sister, Adaeze, who has been his rock-until her marriage to a violent military man and her subsequent battle with diabetes threaten to upend everything.
