Prologue

Its been 5 years since the apocalypse started. There have been settlements built, as well as Safe Zones, or SZ's, run by the government. This virus is powerful and adaptive, so only the strongest survive. Miles (age 17) and his friends, Nate (age 16) and Walter (age 14), have just fled the government Safe Zone. Something just doesn't feel right there. So they decide to take their chances on their own.
Hayes (age 19) never joined a Safe Zone, or a settlement. He's fine surviving on his own. He has a strange and confusing past that makes him the ideal apocalypse survivor.
One day their paths cross, and they realize their fates are intertwined...
