Everything begins when James-a young man with no memories of his past but an uncanny knowledge of the town and its residents-suddenly appears. He skillfully conceals his awareness, carefully choosing his words and actions to seem ordinary. No one notices until small coincidences begin drawing attention to him.
When Dipper returns to Gravity Falls a year after James' arrival, his intuition immediately senses something unusual about the boy. James knows more than he should and hides far too much. Determined to uncover the truth, Dipper starts digging.
