Chapter 1

Her name was Audrey. His name was Jesse. They lived in the vintage era, the roaring 1920s. She was 16. He was 19. When Audrey's eldest sister, Marilyn, comes out as gay, Marilyn is thrown out, leaving Audrey alone with her two abusive parents. Jesse moves in next door and takes an unhealthy interest in the young girl who keeps to herself. One day, during the summer, Audrey is thrown for a loop and she must have hope that someone she cares about will catch her and help her along the way until she can begin to carry herself again. Little does she know, Jesse has been watching her and he will do ANYTHING he possibly can to make this young naïve little girl fall in love with him.
