Lee lights up WBBL again with second consecutive century

Lizelle Lee became the first player to score hundreds in back-to-back WBBL games after supporting a record century with another century.
A struggling Adelaide Strikers team was defeated by 28 runs thanks to the Hobart Hurricanes opener, who scored 103 off 59 deliveries. Lee hit the highest-ever WBBL score of 150 not out against the Perth Scorchers on Sunday, which preceded her knock, which included 13 fours and four sixes.
With three games remaining before the playoffs, the Hurricanes jumped to the top of the table by posting 191 for 2 and holding the last-place Strikers to 163 for 3.
After smashing a six in the second over, South Africa's Lee, who retired from international cricket in 2022, was forced to switch sticks. Strikers paid a heavy price when she was dropped twice in the 20s off Anesu Mushangwe's spin in the fourth over. She reached triple digits with a boundary in the 14th over after achieving her half-century off just 35 balls with a six.
In the following over, a ball struck bowler Jemma Barsby's hand and bounced off the stumps, resulting in Lee being run out at the non-striker's end. Lee has struck 253 off 134 balls with 25 fours and 16 sixes in the last two games. She also has the same number of WBBL centuries as Alyssa Healy.
Captain Elyse Villani's 23 not out from 14 at the end and Nicola Carey's undefeated 64 from 46 balls provided Lee with strong assistance.
Smriti Mandhana gave Strikers a strong start in the chase, but her team's hopes declined when the India international was bowled out by Lauren Smith in the eighth over.
Amy Smith, a young legspinner, put Strikers on the defensive in the middle overs and ended up with a commanding 1 for 16 from four overs. Even though South African import Laura Wolvaardt had an undefeated score of 63 off 40, it was insufficient.
