Prologue

Alex Abbing has found herself on the wrong side of the law in the unforgiving land of Serpensbane, one of the few remaining cities following the collapse of the mighty Mienolite empire. Facing permanent exile in the anarchistic wastelands outside the city walls, Alex must retrieve a powerful artifact to redeem herself and prove her worth to the council. Although The Order of Dragonfire have long since eradicated the dragons that once dwelled there, the remaining monsters beyond the mountainous Edge of civilisation are just as intimidating. Can Alex learn to survive in hopeless circumstances, discern friend from foe and defend the land from a reemerging ancient threat?
