Description

Abducted at a tender, impressionable age and brainwashed to be a mass murderer, spraying bullets into families' hearts with no thought of the repercussions. Without the capability of such thought, even. Killing on command. More familiar with the handle of an AK-47 than that of a pencil. Learning to hate before ever learning how to love. This is an invisible child. An isolated, desolate soul who has been taught that nobody will ever love them again; because, after all, nobody likes a parricide. Such is life amidst the ranks of the Lord's Resistance Agency, a rebel group made up of mostly child soldiers that originates in Uganda. Jacob, an adventurous, inventive young boy living on the outskirts of Gulu, has always known this to be a threat. In fact, he commutes the same ten-kilometer stretch of treeless plains twice each day in order to escape the indelible threat posed by the LRA. What happens, then, when his brother is forcefully ripped from his grasp, condemned to the very fate that the brothers have been evading? Follow Jacob in this real-life tale of invisible children as he willingly throws himself into the fire to save his brother, brainwashed almost to the point of no return. A mysterious lapse in consciousness regularly throws Jacob into a paralyzed state, where his memories, and oftentimes those that are not his, or are not yet his, reign supreme over his mind. He will be amongst all of these children who are unknown to the world in all they suffer, with guns in their hands and fear in their hearts as they slowly march to the beat of the drums. I highly recommend her books!
