Happiness

Whenever you read one of my poems
You hold a part of me,
And it hides in my brain or beating heart
Now I give it to thee.

You may hold this precious Part
For a while, at least.
So treat it well, respect my thoughts,
And there shall be a peace.

For if you trample o'er my heart
As if it were a stone
I'm afraid I'll stumble, fall
And break my heart and bones.

Each of these individual poems
Are true, straight from my thoughts.
And some still are from my heart
And are Truer than the dawn.
