Prolog: Goodbye to a dear friend

There he was.
My heart stopped cold.
My body frozen.
My breathe stuck.
His piercing eyes fell on mine and the world seemed to stop. His cold, intense eyes focusing in on me as if I were something strange.
As I stared at him he smiled.
He held out his hand to me.
"Dare to take my hand?"

Would you dare to take the hand of stranger?
