Lucas ends up in a high security mental asylum for troubled youths, it's for his own good. He some realizes that he's not the danger rather his life is in danger and what better place to hid than an asylum. However its just not an asylum.

The asylum is just a cover for it's true function: experimenting on a special brand of mutants and psychopaths.
