The year is 1071, Emperor Romanos Diogenes just lost his army in the Battle of Manzikert. The crows gather over the Empire, as it is engulfed by intrigue, civil strife and the worst... The Turkic nomads eye the Empire from the east, and the Normans from the West. And in between the Empire must find a way to survive.

This is a novel that follows the men and women that fought over the remnants of the Roman Empire. It is a story of rise and collapse, and rise and collapse.
