Chapter 1 The diner

I thought I was done with him. A year ago, I packed only the necessities and drove off into the night while he was asleep. I moved to the city, started a new life, made new friends, and even got a new job. But now, here he is, standing in the same kitchen as me. What once felt homely now feels cold and sterile; the grey floor and counters do nothing to soften the chill.
