"I promise." He suddenly whispered into my hair. I peered up at him, studying his expression. "What do you mean?" I asked, our eyes connecting as he spoke. "I promise I wont let anyone hurt you." He murmured. As I struggled to process his words, his face leaned in closer, and I realized he wasn't finished. "I promise I'll be there for you." he continued. I snuggled into his warmth to hide the deep blush I knew was forming on my face as I tried to think of a coherent answer. He chuckled and caught my chin, tilting it up towards him. "And," he whispered, our eyes locking together. "I promise I love you." I gasped slightly at his sudden words. Confusion jumbled my thoughts, shuffling them up like a pack of cards. I wanted to say that yes, I would be his, but something else came out. "Really?" He leaned in closer, his lips brushing my cheek. My heart fluttered heavily against my chest, pounding at top speed. His eyes trailed my face, lingering on my lips. I felt his dark curls tickle my cheek as he pressed a soft kiss to my forehead before he pulled back, his bright green eyes staring intently into mine. "Yes," he said. "I promise."
