Even now, he looked gorgeous. He let out a shaky breath. His eyes were a beautiful gold, almost glowing as he looked at me, his face taut with an emotion I couldn't read. "I didn't mean to scare you, Roxi. But I'm not...normal. I didn't want to tell you, but I can't keep it a secret when I feel this way about you." I shook my head, my mind struggling to catch up with his words. "What are you saying?" My voice cracked. "What do you mean? You're not-what? What is this, Edward?" His eyes flickered with something like regret before he met my gaze, and I saw something in them that made my blood run cold. "I'm a vampire, Roxi."
