Description

Looking at the night sky, gazing at the airplanes passing by, I am amazed by the uncertainties and unpredictabilities of life. That tiny speck of light flashing in the sky materializes into a sixty meters long metal body as it nears the earth boundaries. But for now, being 10,000 feet away from the earth, its existence has depreciated into just a tiny glow. And when I am here on land, the distance has dematerialized the plane into a bunch of stories for me. The story of each person traveling in the air, temporarily detaching themselves from all the earthly pulls. Everyone flying for different purposes. Maybe to a new start or away from a terrible end. Maybe to a new possibility or to reunite with past. To explore or to get cured. Maybe to good days, maybe to their worst ones. To duty calls, or to the faces of loved ones. Maybe to dreams or maybe to failures. To create milestones or maybe to escape realities. Everyone headed to a different destiny. Every story approaching its unique conclusion. But not every story deserves a perfect ending. Because some are meant to be continued. And the others are destined to be tragedies. Gazing airplanes evokes happiness in me, the exact ecstasy I feel before starting any book, imagining the collection of stories that tiny glow can tell. Some happy, Some sad. Airplanes signify progress. It urges to abandon the stagnant. Because in the end it is the journey that matters, not the destination. Quoting a beautiful line from Anai's Nin, "We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls". The tiny glow disappears into nothingness and I plunge back to reality, to my own story. As if I had just finished reading the book. I enjoy the same bliss. And I smile with same satisfaction.
