Larkpaw narrowly escapes her imprisonment in the SnowClan camp. Back home, she wants nothing more than to catch up on her lost training. But then a cat is killed in the middle of the camp and two apprentices from LaurelClan disappear. While searching for answers, Larkpaw finds out something terrible and realises that the Clans are facing a bigger enemy than expected. Soon she is torn between the decision to take the easy path and risk putting herself and her Clanmates in further danger - or the difficult one, which goes against her moral standards but should at least guarantee some safety. But what if one day something happens that she never expected?
