Yannis Jenkins rarely leaves the house; an experiment with seclusion has decimated his social skills as tiktok's gravitational pull of constant faces has always been enough to drown that hollow truth: he has no friends. Living through others, however, only works if you have food and with his parents on holiday, 16-year-old Yan must venture out for the first time this summer. Overweight, ashy and unshaven, this simple trip to the shops becomes a battle with judgemental looks as Yan realises the rules of shared spaces sometimes - just sometimes - begins with pretty privilege. Luckily, actions always speak louder than appearances and a chance encounter with a lost dog on aisle 22 leaves one Oxford bound girl charmed enough to speak to forever ignored Yannis Jenkins...
