Description
In 1925 Europe, a young French black woman known as Vanessa escapes her stormy past by suddenly leaving the only life she knows back in France. Catching trains with currency she earns through newly becoming a prostitute, she travels north-west through the United Kingdom searching for a new beginning. A train stop in Birmingham, England temporarily pauses her travels as a customer takes a high-paying interest in her. Thomas Shelby is the leader of a notoriously criminal gang, the Peaky Blinders. Although he is known for practically owning this area of England and being a gun-toting gangster along with the rest of the Shelby family, he is also wealthy, powerful, a family man, and a cunning businessman. Needing a fresh outlook on life after the gut-wrenching murder of his wife, Tommy finds joy and amusement in Vanessa, the new twenty-five year old minx who has just arrived in town. Slowly becoming enamored by her, Tommy pays for her services daily to keep her from being touched by any other customer. Heart still broken from his wife's death, Tommy refuses to ever love or marry again... But suddenly feeling possessive over Vanessa, he has made sure for the last six months that she would only be paid to whore for him. Vanessa feels lucky to find daily pay within a single customer. Not only is Tommy handsome and his sex makes her dizzy with lust, but because of this agreement her body doesn't have to be used and worn down by multiple men each day. The two can simply enjoy each other's company, benefiting from it with their own reasons. Each day spent with Tommy is money being added to her pocketbook, money that she plans to save and use to create her own business in the near future. As trouble with the Italian mafia finds its way into the Peaky Blinders, Tommy offers Vanessa a pay raise for a change in her job description. Instead of his whore, she'd become his trusted companion... Vanessa soon finds out that the new position isn't nearly as easy as it sounds.
