To die at a masquerade ball is possibly the most tragic and most hilarious thing she had ever experienced. It was a right pity she couldn't remember any of it.
The man in the suit, he who claimed to be a master of death and yet looked like he resided at its doorstep, had wrapped shadows round her heart and forced it to beat again. The man in the suit handed her a book, a coat, and a name. It was also a pity, because she didn't remember what he had named her. She went with a saint instead, the saint painted inside the cover of the novel.
And then she went back to the manor and met another dead man.
Because of course she did.
And her life, or rather the absence of it, took multiple downwards turns from there.
