Before The Story

Shane was a man that lost everything. He lost faith in himself and in others. He doesn't believe that things will get better for him. He knows he is a lost cause. He is an alcoholic and is a total jerk to the new farmer. So why does she keep persisting to be his friend? What could she possibly see in him? There is nothing left of him for her to have. So why does she feel like she needs to hold herself down with him?
