The stars are all of the wishes, dreams, and all ambitions of the people down below. Some of these wishes are easily achievable and obtainable by some, while some are easily obstructed and defeated. The stars represent the souls of the deceased, as they watch over everyone from heaven or hell. The stars, the stars, the stars. There was no such thing as a 'star,' in her world. There was no such thing as 'future', in her world. Perhaps, there was nothing about 'hope.' Nothing about 'dream.' Perhaps, there was nothing such as 'living.' In her world, smiles are a symbol of weakness. In her world, misery is a symbol of strength. In this, messed-up of what she wished to call a dystopia, she couldn't dare rebel. Just follow the lines of the code, follow the orders of the manipulator, and you are safe.
