Elaine Barnes, a young woman looking to start a life on her own, moves to Portland, Oregon, where she hopes to finally figure out what her life is meant to be about. On her first day though, she runs into a handsome young man, Benjamin Kantz, that turns out to be her neighbor. The two hit it off and quickly become best friends, but what happens to them when disaster strikes for Elaine? Does she stay, or run back home to hide from all the pain?
