in this particular story,Harvey, the main character, struggles with depression and self pity. after the divorce with his ex-wife he fell into the emptyless void of despair. his mental health declined and gradually fell into a dark state, thus emphasizing that he is his own enemy and finally let's go of the past, finally healing.he eventually finds someone new.
