All that matters to her is her dad, her mom, her animals, and her best friend. But at the young age of 10, her mom died of cancer. At the age of 12, her two cats die. At 13, her dog. At 15, one of her friend's OD. And at 17, her best friend Hailey falls off her horse at a rodeo, snapping her neck and dying on the spot, in front of Layla, and 109 other people. *** Before her best freinds death, Laylas father finds a black stallion on the side of the road, frisky and unsure. The stallion doesn't let anyone near, anyone but Hailey. Layla planned to get the stallion trained for Hailey, who seemed to love him the minute she layed eyes on him. But before any of that happened, Hailey ran her last barrel. Layla now stuck with a broken heart and a mean horse lost in life and unknowing in what to do. A heart broken for her best freinds loss and a horse seemingly as distressed by Haileys death as Layla with a mild case of Haphephobia.
