Ruby and Njato had been good friends since they were kids in a small Montana town, they were inseparable; he was a shy immigrant from Madagascar and Ruby, a lively local girl. They shared a bond of curiosity and adventure, who explored the woods and the lake together, when Ruby's family moved to New York when she was twelve. Years later, Ruby is a successful beautician in the city, with a busy schedule and a glamorous lifestyle. Njato still lived in the same town, working as a mechanic and living alone. He never forgot about Ruby, his childhood friend. He tried to find a woman who looked like her, but none of them could fill the void in his heart. He killed them all. He became obsessed with the idea of reuniting with Ruby; he wanted to relive their good childhood memories and make her his forever. Ruby decides to take a break from all the stress of living and working in New York. She visits her aunt and uncle, whom she had not seen in years. She hopes to reconnect with her roots and find some peace and quiet. But her trip turns into a nightmare when she runs into Njato again. He is overjoyed to see her, but she hardly recognizes him. He has changed a lot, and not for the better. He is pale, thin, and unkempt, with a crazed look in his eyes. He is determined they must stay together forever, even if he has to show her his dark, twisted and disturbing side of life.
