Ethyl and Lucius parents have been business partner/friends even before they exist. But that does not mean they were also friends.

They were the opposite of their parents. Ethyl hate Lucius for many reason, his a womanizer and always teasing her whenever he had a chance. While Lucuis just love to tease Ethyl, he would feel the satisfaction everytime Ethyl would lost her patient.

It was always been like that until their parents dropping a bomb shell on them, arranging them in a marriage.
