While the deputy, Owlstripe, vouches for him because he saved her kits, Froststar isn't so sure. Weatherfall must prove himself if he's going to be accepted into a new Clan, but he must also dig deep inside himself and reflect on the choices that led him to Waterclan in the first place. Meanwhile, back in Snowclan, both Stormsplash and Briarpaw are grieving after losing their respective sisters. Stormsplash searches for answers to Rockflight's death, knowing that something's not adding up. When Briarpaw finds out that Weatherfall might still be alive, he'll stop at nothing to find him, hoping to spare even more heartbreak. But with a sickness spreading through the camp and a battle brewing between Waterclan and Snowclan, the cats must find a way to control their grief before it destroys them, and before their Clans are destroyed by the illness and war.
