What else was she supposed to do... let the boys have all the fun? Nope. Even though she participated in their pranks (and often pranked them), Carly and the Marauders had a friendship that survived parental abuse, family death, and werewolf dangers. She grew up with James Potter, fell in love with Sirius Black, cried with Remus Lupin, and survived with Peter Pettigrew. They were her boys, her best friends.
