Chapter 1: The Girl Who Likes to Shovel Food Down My Throat

"How much do you remember?" Hazel asked kindly.

He shrugged and picked a little at the star-shaped flowers by their feet. "Not a lot. Just... someone who I think loved me more than anything."

"Wow. She sounds incredible," Hazel said dreamily. "What was she like?"

He looked up at the night sky and closed his eyes. He thought hard and tried to remember the girl in his dreams.

"She smelled like oranges," he finally said. He blinked his eyes open and breathed in deep, trying in vain to find comfort in his blurry memory. "And she walked in springtime wherever she went."
