At the age of eighteen, every man and women gets to choose the rest of their lives. Following a test that evaluates their intelligence, emotional maturity, and physical health, every eighteen year old elects to continue in their regular world of education and work OR transfer their lives into The Paragon: a society in which humans are transformed into their perfect selves with their lives fully provided for them. A secretive society in which women and men are matched to produce genetically ideal offspring for the regular population. Prior to her test day, Iliana planned to spend the rest of her life with Tristan. They promised to stay together no matter the results of their tests. If they both passed, they would move on to the world of perfection in The Paragon. If not, they would grow and raise a family together.
