Alyssa Buckley is a normal seventeen-year-old girl. She has friends, she goes to school, she has a job, she has a terrible home life, pretty normal right? Well yes, until the last bit.

Ever since Alyssa was born, she never got the right end of the stick in regards to her familial situation. In fact, most of her immediate family is relatively the cause of some of her hardships, as well as her viewpoint for the current world. The way her family has acted has caused how Alyssa allows herself to be treated by others around her, and how she responds to it (or doesn't respond to it). Instead, she goes around with a pure mindset that no one could break. Well, almost anyone.

Remember the school that was mentioned? Right, Alyssa actually does amazing in school, well, if you don't count mathematics. In order for Alyssa to graduate, she would need to pass mathematics, and while yes she could easily not graduate this year and try again the next year, but that wouldn't help her get rid of her terrible familial situation.

So Alyssa, battered and confused with no other hope, she decides to put her future in the hands of a boy who she not only doesn't like, but makes her question and contest her own beliefs on a daily basis.
