Maddie may be a vampire, but the young bartender hasn't let go of her life or her legal identity. Since she's still alive on paper, she must do what all other citizens must do and serve jury duty.

In order to find a way to do her civic duty, Maddie asks the owner of a magickal supply shop for help. Zanna, a sarcastic warlock who is in hiding from her evil family, reluctantly agrees after realizing how naive Maddie is about the supernatural world.

The two unlikely allies soon find themselves on an adventure that neither saw coming, and the fate of New York City hangs in the balance.
