Khadija was deeply in love with Ahmed and attached her beliefs about love to him, even converting her religion for him. She believed that sacrificing her religion would make it easier for her to be with Ahmed. When she finally entered Ahmed's life, she was offered the opportunity to be an integral part of his life. However, despite her love for Ahmed, she found herself tempted by the charms of Lucian Maximus, who offered her a world where she could be accepted for who she was, free from the judgment of others. Lucian Maximus saved her from a world where traditions were vastly different and where nobody accepted her for who she was.
