Poppy Williams grew up with parents who told her she was destined to save lives. She'd always assumed that they expected her to be a politician, nurse or doctor, and was terribly upset when she realised that science was not her fortè. It appears that they knew something she didn't when at 24 she finds herself flying around time and space in a blue box with a madman who was far too charming for his own good.

Poppy goes from a normal History teacher to a time-travelling 'companion' who would do anything to make her parents proud.
