Tokoyami was quite the quiet man but a lot of people misunderstand him due to his quiet nature and his look. Demon summoning, Spirit talking, cursing, witchcraft, sourcery or even accusing him of having villainous thoughts like sacrificing people to who knows what besides arson and violence as well. To be honest, everything they say is not really true... kinda... he just has some bad luck that it would look that way...
