Prologue: Bad Tidings

When disgraced detective Lucas Aaron Wyatt finds himself dragged out of the clinical depressive state he'd been in ever since his tragic shooting at the hands of a fifteen-year-old delinquent on one particularly cold Christmas Day which led to his being in a coma for two years and later heavy drinking habit translating to a rather messy subsequent divorce, by a rather cunning and highly sought after thief of world-famous pricy artifacts and world trader information, known globally as The Gray Fox. He had elected to go after the crafty escape artist with guns blazing only to find himself forced into a battle of wits as he finds himself led by his nose by a mysterious information broker, who hacks into his personal computer known simply as Tod, with keen knowledge about his newest target and old unsolved cases. At the same time, a string of robberies takes place in the city of Baltiney, New York, and one of them appeared to have targeted a well-known billionaire international philanthropist who had recently made his arrival from Europe.
