Grian wasn't supposed to still be in the game. It had ended. It was over. He was sick of the dry heat during the day and the numbing cold at night. He wanted to go home.

They wouldn't let him go home.

Grian presumed it was a punishment. He'd thought that the game would be enough for Them to finally leave him alone, but he was wrong. They'd never be satisfied, he was realizing. He was The One Who Got Away, and now They'd never allow him to escape the scope of Their gaze again.

Basically, the Watchers trap Grian in 3rd Life after it ends. This is an account of the last days he spends in the game before he breaks free.
