The chatter of people, the honking of vehicles, and the football match playing on television. Everything became just pure white noise. I stood there, still like a lifeless statue. A thunderous voice boomed in my head and yanked me out of my shock, pulling me to the present moment. "You understand?" His voice was loud and clear, like a punch to the gut. "No," I said, my voice raspy. I couldn't let that happen. I couldn't let him treat me like that. "No," I said again, clenching my fists to stop them from shaking, "You are wrong. I'm just pretending to be your fiancé. I'm not your fiance, and I will never be." ===================================== Lillian is a highly ambitious girl in an unfortunate situation.
