Reality and imagination are two separate worlds. In reality, Gwyneth is alone and feels worthless. In her imagination, however, she has friends and feels accepted and happy. When Gwyneth must return to the place that made her feel unaccepted in the first place, she continues to resort to her imagination to feel happy.
